How do two parents share one baby tracker? Partner sync in Livia, explained

Published Updated 3 min read

In Livia, you invite a partner, grandparent or nanny by email, each person gets their own sign-in, and every entry shows up on every phone within seconds, with who logged it. It works offline, nothing gets overwritten, and it's free, not a family plan.

Two people doing night shifts need one log, not two. In Livia you invite your partner, a grandparent or a nanny by email, each of them signs in with their own account, and everything anyone logs appears on every phone within seconds, with the name of whoever logged it. There is no family plan to buy and no "sync group" to set up: sharing a baby is simply how Livia works.

How do I invite my partner?

  1. Open More → Caregivers and enter their email address.
  2. They install Livia and sign in with that same address (sign-in is a 6-digit code we email; there is no password to share).
  3. The baby is waiting for them. If they already use Livia for another baby, the invite appears under Add a baby.

Everyone can log, edit and start timers. Everyone sees the same Home, History and Insights. If you've told Livia how each of you is related to the baby, Caregivers reads "Ana · Mom, Tom · Dad, Rosa · Nanny".

What does my partner see when I log a feed?

The entry, within seconds, on their Home screen: how long since the last feed updates, the day's count ticks up, and the entry shows who logged it. A sleep or breastfeeding timer you start is running on their phone too, so whoever picks the baby up next sees "asleep for 1h 10m" and taps "Woke up" on their own phone. The undo that Livia offers for a minute after a timer starts reads the same on both phones.

What if we're both logging at once, or one of us is offline?

Nothing gets overwritten, because Livia never overwrites anything. Every entry is saved on the phone that made it first, then copied to the others. An edit is a new entry that says "this corrects that one" and a delete is a new entry that says "that one is void". Two phones can log at the same moment, or one can be in airplane mode for a day, and when they meet the result is the same on both: no conflicts, no "which version do you want to keep". The one thing two people really do get wrong, logging the same feed twice, Livia catches and offers to merge.

Can a grandparent or nanny use it without seeing everything?

Each caregiver sees the baby they're invited to, and only that baby. A nanny who works for two families sees two babies, switched from the top bar, each one shared only with that family. The person who set up a baby can remove a caregiver at any time; they lose access on their phone straight away, and what they logged stays with the baby.

Does it work for twins, or a second child?

Yes. Add a baby from the name in the top bar and switch between them there. Each baby has their own settings: what you track, naps a day, nighttime hours, units, adjusted age.

How does this compare to other baby trackers?

Most trackers can share a log; the differences are in what it costs and how it's built.

What isn't there yet?

Invites are by email only. A tap-to-join link is planned, and a read-only web view for a pediatrician or a relative without the app is on the list for later. Partner sync is free and stays free: everything other trackers put in a premium plan (sharing, the next-nap estimate, growth charts, full history) is included in Livia. The one thing Livia will charge for is Ask Livia, the assistant that's coming.
