Is Livia private? Where your baby's data lives, who can see it, and how to delete it

Published 3 min read

Your baby's log is saved on your phone first, synced to your account so the caregivers you invite can see it, and used for nothing else. No ads, no selling data, usage analytics with no names, dates or amounts, and account deletion inside the app that takes effect immediately.

Livia stores your baby's log on your phone first, syncs it to your account so the caregivers you invite can see it, and uses it for nothing else. There are no ads, we don't sell or share data, and you can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, immediately. This post is the short version; the full privacy policy is the one that counts.

Where is my baby's data stored?

On your phone, first. Every entry is written to a local database before anything else happens, which is why Livia logs with no signal. It is then synced, encrypted in transit, to our database, hosted by Supabase, so it reaches the other caregivers of that baby and comes back if you change phones. The database lets each account read only the babies it has been given access to.

Who can see it?

You, and the people you invite to a baby. Each caregiver sees that baby's log and can add to it; nobody else can. The person who set up a baby can remove a caregiver at any time, and they lose access on their phone straight away. We look at stored data only when we need to run, secure or support the service, for example when you write to us for help.

What does Livia know about me?

Your email address, your first name, and, if you give it, how you're related to each baby. You sign in with a one-time code we email, so there is no password for us to store or for you to share with a partner.

Does Livia show ads or sell data?

No, and no. Livia has no ads, no shop and no tracking for advertisers. We don't sell or rent data, and we don't use your baby's log for anything but running the tracker for you. If that ever changes, for example if Livia one day suggests products from what you log, the policy will say so first, and we will ask before using your data that way.

What analytics does the app send?

Anonymous usage events, so we can tell which parts of the app are used and which steps fail: a screen opened, "an entry was logged" with only its kind (a feed, a sleep), whether saving or syncing worked, and a general reason if not, such as "no connection". The events carry a random account identifier and the baby's age range, nothing more. They never include your baby's name, birth date, amounts, times or notes, your email, or anything you type. Error reports have emails, numbers and quoted text stripped before they leave the phone. We don't collect location. The details and the list of what's sent are in the privacy policy.

How do I delete everything?

In the app: More → Account → Delete account, then confirm with a code we email you. It is permanent and happens straight away. Your account and email are deleted; a baby only you track is deleted with everything logged for them; a baby you share stays with the other caregivers, with your entries shown as logged by a former caregiver; the analytics linked to your account are deleted too. Signing out, by contrast, only removes the copy on that phone.

Is it safe for a child's data?

Livia is built so that the people building it see as little as possible: the log is yours and your caregivers', the analytics are coarse by design, and nothing is used to profile you or your baby. Livia asks for no photos, no contacts and no location. The company behind it is Aqua Innovations LLC, a small US company; the person building Livia is the one who answers hello@livia.baby.

If you have a question the policy doesn't answer, write to us. Otherwise, get early access, free, and know where your data is.
