Nara Baby is one of the cleanest baby trackers made, and for years it was free. According to Nara's own FAQ it now starts with a 7-day trial and then needs a subscription or a lifetime purchase; without one you can view and export your log but not add to it. Livia is a calm, ad-free tracker in the same spirit, with the same basics plus a next-nap estimate on the home screen, real-time partner sync, offline logging and checks that catch typos in the log, and it is free. We make Livia, so read this with that in mind; every claim about Nara links to Nara's own pages, checked in October 2026.

What do the two have in common?
A lot, by design. Both are dark, quiet and built to be used one-handed with a baby on the other arm. Both log breastfeeding by side with a timer, bottles, sleep, diapers, pumping and growth on the WHO charts. Neither shows ads or a shop. If you liked Nara's feel, Livia will feel familiar.
Where does Livia go further?
- It estimates the next nap and bedtime from your baby's own log, not only from a fixed wake-window table, and it says on the screen which figures come from a named source and which are a rule of thumb. How the estimate works.
- It checks the log for the slips you make half asleep. An amount with an extra zero, the same feed logged by both parents, a timer left running, a nap that never got logged: each gets a question and a one-tap fix. The full list.
- It keeps the night together. Last night is one number, in the morning it ends in; a day is last night plus its naps. Why most trackers get this wrong.
- Insights name their source. A card says "Babies at Mia's age usually have 6 or more wet diapers a day", with the AAP page linked, and sets your day beside it only to say it was inside the range, or to ask whether you missed logging one.
- Partner sync is built in, with each caregiver on their own sign-in and every entry marked with who logged it. How sharing works.
- It takes your Nara history with you. Export from Nara, import in Livia, and the feeds, sleep, diapers, pumping, growth and records you logged there show up as if you'd logged them here. How, below.
- Nothing to pay. No trial, no card, no read-only mode. The tracker stays free after early access too, sharing and the next-nap estimate included; the one thing Livia will charge for is Ask Livia, the assistant that's coming.
Where does Nara go further?
- Export of your log. Livia doesn't have it yet.
- Maturity. Nara has years of releases behind it. Livia is in early access before its App Store launch, which also means the person building it reads every reply.
Can I move from Nara to Livia?
Yes, with your history. Nara lets you export your log even without a subscription, and Livia reads that file:
- In Nara Baby, tap your baby's photo at the top, scroll to the bottom and tap Export Data, then save the file to Files (or AirDrop it to your phone). Nara exports one child at a time.
- In Livia, go to More → Import your history, choose Nara Baby and pick that file. If you're setting Livia up for the first time, the link is under the baby's name: the file fills in the name, birth date and what you track, so setup is four questions instead of ten.
- Livia shows what it found, you tap Import, and the entries appear in History and on the growth chart, synced to your partner like anything else.
What comes across: breastfeeding sessions with sides and durations, bottles with amount and formula, solids, sleep, diapers with their details, pumping, weight, height and head size in any unit, vaccines, medicine, Baby Firsts and milestones. What doesn't: a sleep still running in Nara (stop it first), pumping sessions logged with no amount, temperatures and routines like nail trims, which Livia doesn't track. Importing the same file twice adds nothing, so you can export again later and bring over what's new. The file is read on your phone and never uploaded.
Which should you choose?
Choose Nara if you're happy to pay for a polished, mature app and you want export today.
Choose Livia if you want the same calm, ad-free tracking with the next nap on the home screen, a log that catches its own mistakes and a partner on the same page, free. Get early access; your account carries over when Livia reaches the App Store.
Neither app replaces your pediatrician. Bring any question about feeding, sleep or growth to them.
